Bio
Lauren Covey (b. 1982 Lynchburg. Virginia) creates thought-provoking work in a wide range of media, including video, sound, installation, photography, and performance. Her work intuitively pulls from the public and private worlds of psychoanalysis, self-help literature, and therapy to produce enigmatic narratives using appropriated found material to create a series of invented as well as self-reflective characters. After completing a B.S. in Fashion Design from Drexel University and working in the fashion industry, Covey studied at the Art Students League before receiving an MFA in Sound Art from Columbia University in 2021. Lauren has worked as a peer counselor in the mental health field and hopes that through advocacy and her involvement in the community her artwork can inspire social change. Her work has been exhibited at the Governors Island Art Fair, Fridman Gallery, and the Fountain House gallery.
